Three Months

This week we celebrated Monty being with us for three months. I say celebration like we had a party (which we didn't) but only because we spend every day marveling at how much he has grown, appreciating the new things he is doing, and commenting on the speed life has taken recently.

He has really started to enjoy playing with toys. He loves his activity mat. He enjoys pulling on his bib and grabbing the burp cloth. Anything he can drape over his face or put in his mouth is fantastic. He moves around when he is on the floor but has stopped rolling over on the hardwoods. We think he knocked his head a few times and he has learned it hurts to do that. We are in search of a rug for the living room area (where he plays) to address this concern. In the mean time mom does make sure we get in rolls upstairs on the carpet OR she catches his head when playing in the living room!

He has super strong legs and loves "standing up" but has also developed great neck control. It doesn't show in these pictures (because daddy was sitting in a chair and he wanted to look up at daddy) but he has started to sit in the bumbo chair for short periods of time.  He is still physically a little small for the seat, so we also just sit in laps or propped up with pillows.

Monty went in for his two month visit at the pediatrician. While he isn't at the top of the bell curve in growth we are pleased that he is still gaining weight and length (we have a long and lean baby!). His "Pendleton" head is finally starting to be proportionate to the rest of his body. Our pediatrician said that since his parents are of the shorter variety that we shouldn't be concerned that he isn't 50th percentile or larger. He is a good eater and a fantastic sleeper.
Mommy did loads of research on vaccines (cried and prayed) and came up with a plan that Kelly liked a lot. She actually asked for a photocopy of it to keep for other parents who may have similar concerns.
Kelly was super pleased with the neck control and said we may have an early walker on our hands if he continues to hit milestones this quickly. Yikes! That is one milestone that can wait till the one year mark for SURE.
We celebrated our first Easter and we had a visit from the Easter Bunny.

We celebrated Easter with both sets of Grandparents. Monty got to visit with Aunts and Uncles as well as cousins.

When we were with my family for Easter we also celebrated Luke's second birthday. I can't believe he is two!! Where does the time go?? We had a little cake and present party.

And during all the commotion, Chris got some icing on his finger....

After we returned, Chris and I also left Monty with MeMaw and Grandpa for a few hours so we could attend a wedding shower. It was a short visit away from Monty but I think everyone involved had a fantastic day!

The following weekend it was time to push Monty to a new level. Time to drop the swaddle! Since the reflex that requires the swaddle (startle reflex) integrates around this age he doesn't NEED it to stay asleep. He may want it but that is only because he is used to it. Even then he was "breaking out" on a regular basis. See pictures of our angel to know what a Houdini he really was! It took three good nights of crying to forget about the swaddle but we are continuing to report a good nights sleep and it has been gone for a week! Yay! He still gets the swaddle for naps (for now...this is a gradual break up).

breaking out but still asleep (sometimes this woke him up and bothered him!)

full arm removal, a favorite of this little fellow!

Monty wasn't able to go to May Day this year because he was under the weather but it was nice to have people asking after him and commenting about what a cutie he is! I appreciate the compliments, even if people feel obligated to say something about the new baby!

I have loads more pictures to post, but have to take a break! Baby is about to get up from his next nap and we need to start our bedtime routine!!
